Thyroid health

Find out if your thyroid is behind how you feel.

What it is

Your thyroid sets the pace of your metabolism, affecting energy, weight, temperature, mood, hair and skin.

Thyroid problems are much more common in women and are often autoimmune, such as Hashimoto's. They can appear around pregnancy and menopause. Many women are told their results are normal because only TSH was tested.

Is this you?

  • Tiredness
  • Feeling cold
  • Weight gain
  • Hair thinning or dry skin
  • Low mood or brain fog

Common root causes

We look at all three corners of the body–mind–brain triangle.

Body

Autoimmune thyroid disease, low iron, iodine or selenium, and gut problems that affect immunity.

Mind

Long-term stress.

Brain

The pituitary's signal to the thyroid (TSH), which is affected by stress and illness.

How we assess it

A symptom profile, a full thyroid panel with antibodies, and the nutrient tests that support thyroid function.

Available in clinic in Llandudno, or remotely by video with home or partner-site blood tests.

Your plan

After your Women's Health Assessment, you receive a personal plan with nutrition, lifestyle and targeted support, regular check-ins, and a retest so you can see what has changed.

About the assessment

If you take thyroid medication, never change your dose without your GP. A lump or swelling in your neck should be checked by your GP.

Take the thyroid health symptom profile

A short online questionnaire that maps your symptoms and shows whether they are worth investigating. It takes about 5 minutes.

Key lab tests

The tests most often useful for thyroid health. Every test includes a practitioner review of your results.

Full thyroid panel

What it measures
TSH, free T4 and free T3: the pituitary signal and the thyroid hormones themselves.
Why it matters
TSH alone can miss problems with hormone production or conversion.

Thyroid antibodies

What it measures
TPO and thyroglobulin antibodies.
Why it matters
Show whether an autoimmune process, such as Hashimoto's, is involved.

Ferritin and iron studies

What it measures
Your iron stores.
Why it matters
The thyroid needs iron to make its hormones, and low iron causes similar symptoms.
