Well Woman Clinic

Hormonal health

Support through your cycles, perimenopause and menopause.

What it is

Oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone shape your cycle, mood, sleep, energy, bones and heart health. Their balance shifts through every stage of life.

Perimenopause can begin in your early to mid-forties, sometimes earlier, with symptoms appearing years before periods stop. Finding the drivers helps you feel like yourself again.

Is this you?

  • Irregular, heavy or painful periods
  • PMS or mood swings before your period
  • Hot flushes or night sweats
  • Sleep problems
  • Low libido, anxiety or brain fog

Common root causes

We look at all three corners of the body–mind–brain triangle.

Body

Perimenopause, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), insulin resistance, thyroid problems, and low iron from heavy periods.

Mind

Long-term stress, which competes with the body's production of sex hormones.

Brain

The hypothalamus and pituitary, which control the cycle and are affected by stress, poor sleep, under-eating and overtraining.

How we assess it

A symptom profile, a detailed cycle and life-stage history, and hormone tests timed to your cycle where they are useful.

Available in clinic in Llandudno, or remotely by video with home or partner-site blood tests.

Your plan

After your Women's Health Assessment, you receive a personal plan with nutrition, lifestyle and targeted support, regular check-ins, and a retest so you can see what has changed.

About the assessment

Menopause in women over 45 is usually recognised from symptoms rather than blood tests. HRT is prescribed by your GP or a menopause clinic, and we work alongside them. Bleeding after menopause, or between periods, should always be checked by your GP.

Take the hormonal health symptom profile

A short online questionnaire that maps your symptoms and shows whether they are worth investigating. It takes about 5 minutes.

Key lab tests

The tests most often useful for hormonal health. Every test includes a practitioner review of your results.

Testosterone with SHBG and fasting insulin

What it measures
Androgen levels and insulin.
Why it matters
Raised testosterone and insulin resistance are features of PCOS.

Dried urine hormone profile

What it measures
Hormones and their breakdown products across a day.
Why it matters
Can give more detail on how hormones are processed. Its evidence base is still developing, and we will explain what it can and can't show.
